Manta Ray Bay Resort (2005-2024)
Macdonald Design LLC was commissioned by the Manta Ray Bay Resort, a boutique establishment on Micronesia’s Yap Island, to develop a new website that would not only reflect the resort’s distinctive charm but also ensure a fluid online user experience. Having previously collaborated on mantaray.com v2, our team was eager to rise to the challenge of creating what the owners envisioned as the “best dive website in the world.” The directive was to design a website that encapsulates the resort’s essence, allowing visitors to virtually partake in the experience of dining at the resort’s restaurant, discussing their day’s dives while enjoying a meal of local seafood paired with the resort’s award-winning microbrew. To achieve this, we began by constructing a bespoke WordPress theme from scratch, tailored specifically to enhance the storytelling of the resort’s unique offerings.
What we did:
Custom WordPress Theme Development: Built a completely custom theme tailored to the resort’s needs and aesthetics from the ground up.
Content Porting and Organization: Transferred and systematically reorganized existing content to improve navigation and user experience.
High-Volume Photo Management: Integrated over 3,700 high-quality photos into the site, optimizing for performance without sacrificing quality.
Dynamic Content Integration: Developed a system to dynamically display 108 pages, 36 dive sites, 35 rooms, and 458 blog posts efficiently.
